Constructing Rooms Using Platform Framing Methods
Platform framing is a method of constructing the frames for the rooms of a building. It is most often used because of its quick method of construction and simpler processes overall, especially when compared to other similar framing methods.
Platform framing works using one structure which is constructed and is well supported by a foundation. The first level then functions as a platform to project the next floor. Rafters and roof joists are erected on the final tier of walls. The process continues until the desired number of floors is achieved.
Platform framing is often used as it is a easier to construct when compared to other similar styles of framing. Platform framing uses less wood and any smaller pieces of wood can be used on the wall frames. It also has the added advantage of not requiring any fire stopping, since the stud spaces are enclosed by the floor platforms.
