Using Garage Door Bracing Systems

When extreme weather conditions hit a home, the garage door is one of the largest and weakest openings. Fortunately it’s possible to secure the garage door with a garage door bracing system, strengthening it in the event of storms and heavy winds.

Garage door bracing systems make use of vertical braces which can secure a horizontally seamed door to the garage floor and ceiling. The systems are designed so they can be installed on the inside of any kind of garage door. They are also temporary, installed in preparation for  extreme weather and removed afterwards.

Before installing a door brace it’s important to inspect the track of the garage door, to ensure that it’s securely anchored to the wall. If it is attached to wood, it should use heavy wood bolts and if attached to masonry then it should use expansion bolts. If there is any looseness in the attachments it should be tightened with a stronger track to ensure it has a strong base.
