An Effective Way Of Insulating A Garage Door
Insulating a garage door is an effective way of keeping the inside area of a garage warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. The main reason many people insulate their garage door is because they spend a lot of time in it, so it makes sense that it should be kept at comfortable temperatures.
An effective way of insulating a garage door is by using foil-faced foam panels. These are designed to be inserted into the door itself, adding a much needed layer of heat insulation.
Installing The Foam Panels
The first step is to measure each panel frame on the garage door, then add approximately 1 inch to the shorter dimensions and cut the foil-faced foam board into the rectangles. The extra height of the rectangle will allow the panels to be convex as they are placed on the door, curving outward as they are put in.
The next step is to create an air gap, this is important because without an air gap the foil-faced foam will not work as a radiant barrier, rendering the insulation much less effective. This step is carried out to reduce summer heat gain.
